Seniors Hub Dwarka (SHD), a registered NGO for the seniors, felicitated its Blessed Couples who are enjoying 50 + years of togetherness. These lucky couples were honoured by Founder, EC Members and senior-most, by age, members of SHD accompanied by their spouses.
The celebration started with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony to invite divine blessings and ensure that no bad deeds take place on the occasion. The purity associated with the Diya is believed to keep everyone attending the ceremony safe and healthy.
Shri R.K. Jain, President, Seniors Hub Dwarka, briefly explained the spirit behind the festivity and emphasised on the importance of togetherness which we had assembled to celebrate. He requested all ladies to always accompany their husbands so that they also get an opportunity to move out of four walls of home and enjoy better physical and emotional health.
Seniors Hub Dwarka was lucky enough to receive the blessings of Mahant Rohit Sharma of Shri Pitambara Suryanarayan Temple and National General Secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Mandir Parishad, at the very start of the celebrations.
Personal and professional profiles, as provided by them, of the couple were read out to the august gathering of more than 150 members of SHD present as audience with special anecdotes which they cherished during the lovely journey of more than 50 years. The couples showered renewed love on each other by presenting a rose flower to each other refreshing memories which might have been dimmed down the time lane. They were also presented a few gifts, specially made available by Max Hospital and Mahant Rohit Sharma, in addition to special memento by SHD, to keep the event in their recollections.
The event revealed the hidden talent Dwarka, in general, and SHD in particular, has in the form of knowledge and experience of our Senior and Super Senior members. It would be a treat to read through the profiles of the felicitated couples and therefore, we take this opportunity to present the same here along with their snap for better relativity.
- Smt Kanta Devi & Shri Ghansham Das
Ghanshyam Das got married to Kanta Devi on 9 May 1974. One day in 1973, The marriage was fixed by his father without their pre-consent. His father told him that the girl is giving her 10th examination, he will be married at an auspicious time after the examination. The journey of their married life started from here and it went very well. Kanta ji took care of the house, and the big joint family of Ghansham ji and Ghansham ji took care of his career. He started as Hindi translator in the Finance Ministry. From there, his career went smoothly to Home Ministry, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Syndicate Bank and finally to the level of Deputy General Manager Hindi/Public Relations in IFFCO.

- Smt Poonam & Shri Vijay Marwaha
Vijay ji is living in his flat in Majestic Apartment, Sector 18A, Dwarka since 2012 with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Vijay ji retired as General Manager from Punjab & Sind Bank in 2008 after 36 years of service. Apart from this, he was also a lecturer in a college for two years. At present, he is free from responsibilities and enjoying retired life with his wife. He is fond of travelling, hence whenever possible, he goes on trips within the country and abroad.
Due to his interest in social service work, he tries to help needy people. He considers himself fortunate to be associated with two prestigious institutions of Dwarka as a life member, namely, Seniors Hub Dwarka and Age Well Association. His wife Poonam ji has been a full-time housewife. She is proud grandmother of 5 lovely children. One of her sons is in Germany and daughter in Faridabad. She takes care of her health through regular yoga, meditation, exercise and walking. She is fond of watching cricket matches and political news. Generally, women do not pursue such hobbies.

- Smt Rita & Shri Naresh Saxena
Naresh ji did B.Com from SRCC, DU in 1969, Company Secretary (Inter), and Diploma in Corporate Laws from Indian Law Institute. Worked in German MNC from 1969 to 1986. Since then, they are sustaining themselves by investing in shares of Indian companies. His wife Rita Saxena ji retired as an officer from Canara Bank in 2010 after 37 years of service. They have been associated with social organizations in Dwarka since 2010. They have three daughters and all three are in good positions in professional life and are living happy lives in their respective families.

- Smt P.V. Lakshmi & Shri PV Subba Rao
Shri P.V. Subba Rao and P.V. Lakshmi ji are from Andhra Pradesh. They got married on 24 May 1973. At that time Lakshmi ji was not even 15 years old. But she continued her studies and after graduation joined Rao Saheb. After completing his post-graduation Mr Rao, joined a national security organization under the Cabinet Secretariat in 1974. Till 1991, apart from a posting abroad, he worked in different states of the country. In 1991, when the children reached secondary stage, they settled in Delhi. Lakshmi ji adopted teaching as a profession and worked wherever possible. They have two sons. One is settled in Bangalore and the other in America.
He gives full credit for the success of their children and to Lakshmi ji. At the crucial juncture from school education to professional courses, when he was constantly on tour due to operational needs and stayed late in the office, Lakshmi ji managed everything outside the house and took full care of the needs of the children so that they could concentrate on your studies. Due to family needs, Lakshmi ji left the job in 2010. Mr Rao received several awards and commendations for meritorious service, the highest of which was from Prime Minister Shri Manmohan Singh in 2008.

- Smt Pushpa & Shri Avinash Chandra Vadhera
Born in October 1946 in Sialkot, Shri Avinash Chandra Vadhera settled in East Delhi after traveling to several states in India after partition. In 1965, he started working for the Government of India as a Personal Assistant in the Ministry of Finance and after completing a fulfilling career, he retired in 2006. After leaving the government residence on Pandara Road, he took up residence in Dwarka. Now he is fully enjoying the second inning of his life. He believes that SHD membership has added to their enjoyment. Mr Vadhera celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their love two years ago with the person with whom she fell in love in December 1972.
Pushpa Vadhera born on September 1952 came to Delhi from Lahore after partition. She is the only sister of six brothers. The Vadhera couple are blessed with a son and a daughter, both of whom are happy in their respective families. On completion of 52 years of marriage, their children recently organized a memorable Golden Jubilee celebration for them at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

- Smt Asha & Shri M.P. Mehani
Shri M.P. Mehani was born on 01 January 1945 while his life partner Mrs. Asha Mehani on 22 April 1949. On October 13, 1972, they got tied in an unbreakable relationship forever. Asha ji retired as a teacher from St. Sophia Senior Secondary School, Paschim-Vihar, New Delhi in 2009.
MP Mehani ji was the Chief Manager at SBI, New Delhi Headquarters and is now Corporate/Legal-Consultant, Advocate and deals with Commercial Arbitration cases. Apart from this, he is also a Visiting Faculty for Senior Management Officials & Senior Corporate Executives. He has been living in Dwarka (Sector 4) since 2003. Two lovely flowers bloomed in the garden of your love, Nidhi and Shalu. Both are leading a happy life with their respective families.

- Smt Kamlesh & Shri S.S. Goyal
Mr. S.S. Goyal is BE (Civil) and M. Tech. On UPSC basis, he served as Executive Engineer in Pithoragarh from 1972 to 1973 and then in Lucknow, Kanpur, Dehradun and New Delhi from 1974 to 1992. Then after promotion, worked as Executive Engineer in Nagpur and Jaipur from 1993 to 2001. On last promotion served as Superintending Engineer in Mumbai during 2002-2007. You have worked in the Department of Telecommunications in the Central Government. After retirement, he started living in Dwarka.
They have a son and a daughter, both of whom got married in 2002. His wife Kamlesh Goyal ji is from Meerut and is a graduate. Before marriage, she was working as a teacher in Rajasthan. After marriage, she has helped you a lot in performing official duties. Keeping this in mind she gave up his career. Kamlesh ji brought up the children with great dedication.

- Smt Sashi & Wing Commander Shyam Sundar Kohli
Born in an army family, Wing Commander Shyam Sundar Kohli joined the Indian Air Force in the flying branch in 1964. He had the privilege of serving the country in two historic wars of 1965 and 1971. Completely satisfied with his family life, Kohli ji took premature retirement after serving in the Indian Air Force for 29 years. However, the soldier within him did not let him sit idle and as a result he joined a private company and took the responsibility of security and gardening there on his shoulders. Later, after shifting to Dwarka, he joined Pragati Public School in Dwarka. There was an artist hidden inside this soldier who, apart from flying airplanes, is also very fond of music, traveling and gardening.
Mrs. Shashi Kohli was born on 29 July 1948 in Jhansi. She graduated in 1968 and tied the knot with the then Flight Lieutenant SS Kohli on 12 December 1969. You accompanied Kohli Saheb on every posting and contributed to the welfare of your daughters as well as the extended family of the Indian Air Force. When her children grew up, i.e. after about 15 years of marriage, choosing teaching profession as her career, she joined Meera Model School, Janakpuri and retired from there as Primary in-charge in 2008 after 24 years. She is very fond of listening to the songs of the golden era. She also has a passion for dance and acting. She is very fond of traveling with her family and friends. Both their daughters are settled in Gurgaon and grandchildren are settled in US and Canada.

- Smt Lakshmi Devi & Shri Vidya Prakash Gupta
Shri V.P. Gupta belongs to the famous Lala family of Mahavar Vaishya community. His father late Lala Omkar Das ji had formed the All-India Mahavar Vaish Mahasabha. After doing B. Sc in 1965, he joined Institution of Electronics & Telecom in 1971. Did AMIETE from Engineers (India) and was elected member of IETE in 1991. During his service, he visited Muscat, Iraq, Kuwait and Lebanon on deputation for the execution of various projects. He retired from the post of General Manager in 2005. After this, from June 2006 to February 2020, he worked for Reliance Model Economic Township Ltd. He is actively associated with Delhi Mahavar Vaishya Sabha. Recently society has honored you with Mahavar Ratna.
Mrs. Lakshmi Devi Gupta is from Dehradun. After matriculation, she got married to you in 1969 and as per her name, she proved herself to be Grihalakshmi in the true sense. He made a commendable contribution in the all-round development and education of his four children. All their children are happy in their professional and family lives and live in India and abroad.

- B.L. Bharathi & Shri Narasimha Rao
Born in 1937, Mr. Narasimha Rao (86) and Mrs. Bharathi (80) are originally from the then Madras Presidency and now Andhra Pradesh. Bharathi ji is from Vijayawada and Rao Saheb is from Vetapalem, a small town 60 miles away from there. Both of them had completed their post-graduation from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Rao Saheb in mathematics and Bharti ji in economics. Finally, Rao Saheb received advanced education in Statistics from Kolkata. In 1967, both got married in a traditional manner. They say that they had not met each other before marriage. Since then, i.e. for 57 years they have been living in Delhi via Lajpat Nagar, Naraina, Janakpuri, finally came to Dwarka in 2004 and stayed here.
He was a member of the Indian Statistical Service and held various appointments in the Ministry of Labour. Ultimately, he retired as Deputy Advisor from the then Planning Commission of the Government of India. After that, he held various consultancy positions in international organizations as well as private and public sector organizations in Thailand and Vietnam. He is fully aware of your responsibilities as a citizen. He has voted in every election since he became eligible to vote in 1958. For the recent Lok Sabha elections held in Delhi on 25 May 2024, ECI suggested Rao Saheb to vote from his home but he voted at the polling station and was suitably honoured by SDM, Dwarka, in June 2024, through SHD,

- Smt Ram Pari & Dr. N.P. Singh
Dr. NP Singh and Smt Ram Pari Singh are from Bihar, Saran (Chhapra). They got married on 15 May 1962 when Ram Pari was not even 16 years old. Dr. Saheb completed his post-graduation while working as a teacher at Rajput Inter College, Saran in 1976 and completed his PhD in Hindi in 1994. After that he became the Principal of Rajput Inter College, Bihar in 1995. They have three sons and two daughters. Their two elder sons are settled in USA. Dr NP Singh gives full credit for the success of their children to his wife.
Singh Saheb worked in Rajput Inter College for 41 years and after retirement in many other institutions for 22 years. During his service, his biggest achievement was after completing his PhD becoming a Paper Settler of BSE Board, Patna. Now they both enjoy traveling frequently to meet all their sons and daughters.

- Mahant Rohit Sharma
Mahant Rohit Sharma ji is the Mahant of Shri Pitambara Suryanarayan Temple and the National General Secretary of All India Temple Council. People know his Robin Sharma avatar very well. He a successful businessman. As Robin Sharma, he has done a lot of work in the interest of society and have also tried to protect religion. As a Kar Sevak and Ram Sevak in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, whatever responsibility was assigned to him, he performed it very well. Due to the work done for Sanatan Dharma, Mahant ji of Shri Hanuman Temple Connaught Place gave him the title of Mahant and assigned him a great responsibility to protect the country’s religion.
Mahant Rohit Sharma has established Shri Pitambara Suryanarayan Temple in Sector 109 Gurugram Haryana and has pledged that a series of this temple will be established across the world on the lines of ISKCON temples from where the work of awakening and protection will be done for the followers of Sanatan Dharma.

Vote of Thanks
Shri Ravi Jaitley, General Secretary of Seniors Hub Dwarka, before giving Vote of Thanks, briefly explained the procedure in execution of the event and mentioned that we missed SIX other Blessed Couples namely Smt Veena & Shri SL Saluja ji, Smt Neelam & Shri SK Dhawan ji, Smt Lalita & Shri KP Gupta Ji, Smt Urmila & Dr Suresh Chander Agrawal ji, Smt Krishna & Shri Hardwari Lal Saini Ji, Smt Meena & KK Bhagchandani who could not make it to this Felicitation event because of medical reasons or other last minute unavoidable circumstances. While we await an another opportunity to felicitate with other Blessed Couples, we wish them good health.
He conveyed special thanks to Mahant Rohit Sharma Ji of Shri Peetambra Suryanarayan Mandir and National General Secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Mandir Parishad for accepting our invitation and grace the occasion.
